iOS 7 FEATURES : COMMING THIS FALL

  • Landscape Multitasking
  • Today provide traffic info
  • Video Zoom
  • Air Drop
  • Find my iPhone
  • Manual App Updates and many more .....

1 ) Manual App Updates – Apple said iOS 7 will be the first operating system to automatically push updates to all your applications so you’ll never see that red number hanging over your App Store to remind you to download an update. But in case users prefer managing which application updates they download, iOS 7 offers a slider that can disable automatic updates, which can be found in the Settings for the iTunes and App Stores.

2) Landscape Multitasking – In all past versions of iOS, double-clicking the home button brought a row of icons at the bottom of the screen that showed which apps were open. Since multitasking has changed in iOS 7, letting users see full app previews of all their open apps, Apple has made it so users can see which apps are open in landscape mode too, and quit any of the apps simply by swiping them up. Multiple apps can also be closed at the same time in iOS 7’s landscape multitasking.

3) Apps Ask To Use Microphone – Past iOS builds only asked users if it was OK to access the phone’s location data, camera or Photos app. In iOS 7, users will see that apps will also ask permission to access the device’s microphone, which might make worrywarts less concerned about their privacy.

4) Automatic Day/Night Mode – Much like how GPS devices will automatically switch between day and night color schemes, Apple has introduced features for its new turn-by-turn directions in iOS 7 where the app will automatically switch from day to night mode based on the current time and an ambient light sensor to help judge whether different modes should be activated sooner or later.

5) Dynamic Font Size – For any and all apps that support “Dynamic Type,” users can select a font size in iOS 7 that works system wide, simply by visiting the "General" section under "Settings" and selecting "Font Size."

6) Today Provides Traffic Info – The Notification Center has been one of the more useful features in iOS, but many fans don’t necessarily like it. Apple hopes to change their minds in iOS 7 by making the Notification Center much more personal, and therefore even more helpful. In the new Today section, which basically lines out a user’s entire day based on their appointments in Calendar, iOS 7 will also tell you the weather outside in case you need a jacket or umbrella, but one feature Apple has overlooked is its ability to provide traffic information on places you frequently visit, so just like Google Now, iOS 7 will let you know if you need to give yourself more time to get from A to B.

7) Better Music Controls – In iOS, double-clicking the home button from the Lock Screen gives you a few music controls so you can pause, or rewind, fast-forward or skip through songs. In iOS 7, users can also scrub along the song to get to a certain part directly from the lock screen.

8)  Application Blues And Blueprints – Apple never gave downloading applications much thought in previous iOS builds, but in iOS 7, downloading and updating apps isn't only easier, but it’s also more standardized and organized. Even though apps will automatically update in iOS 7 by default, apps will feature a new blue dot to indicate they’ve been updated, and new apps that are downloaded also now show a blueprint of Jony Ive’s Vitruvian Man-esque app design, which centers on exact measurements and proportions, rather than a dim preview of the actual app.
9) Video Zoom – It may seem like a small addition – it certainly wasn’t mentioned at Apple’s WWDC keynote – but being able to pinch to zoom your videos while recording is actually a major feature in iOS 7. Even though the zooming quality when taking photos in iOS has never been great, the sheer ability to zoom dynamically during a video shoot creates a plethora of possibilities when it comes to creative filming

10) Air Drop -To share photos or documents with others around you, Air Drop in iOS 7 lets users easily see contacts and other users around them, and easily share information with a simple tap. Much better than having to tap someone's phone with yours.

11) Find My iPhone -Find My iPhone is now much improved for iOS 7. Users now need their Apple ID and password to turn off Find My iPhone or erase their device completely. Find My iPhone can also display a custom message, even after the device is erased, which again requires one's Apple ID and password for full reactivation.

GOOGLE BALLOONS : PROJECT LOON

  • Google is launching balloons into near space to provide internet access to buildings below on the ground.
  • Attached equipment will offer 3G-like speeds to 50 testers in the country.
  • Google calls the effort Project Loon and acknowledges it is "highly experimental" at this stage
  • The firm says the concept could offer a way to connect the two-thirds of the world's population which does not have affordable net connections.

A few weeks ago Google revealed jellyfish-shaped internet-beaming antenna balloons, designed with the goal of eventually allowing more remote areas of the earth internet access.

About 30 of the super pressure balloons are being launched from New Zealand from where they will drift around the world on a controlled path.
Attached equipment will offer 3G-like speeds to 50 testers in the country.
Access will be intermittent, but in time the firm hopes to build a big enough fleet to offer reliable links to people living in remote areas.
It says that balloons could one day be diverted to disaster-hit areas to aid rescue efforts in situations where ground communication equipment has been damaged.
But one expert warns that trying to simultaneously navigate thousands of the high-altitude balloons around the globe's wind patterns will prove a difficult task to get right.
Google calls the effort Project Loon and acknowledges it is "highly experimental" at this stage.
The project has been in the works for 18 months and was announced in New Zealand. 50 volunteer households are being used as test subjects for the platform. The balloons are in the earth’s stratosphere, 19 kilometers above the earth.
The project is being developed by Google’s secret Google X lab and is currently dubbed “Project Loon.” This is the same division that created the recent driverless car and Google’s crazy internet browsing eye glasses.
The project is still in very early stages but its ultimate goal is to narrow the divide between the 2.2 billion people that have internet access and the 4.8 billion that don’t. If the technology pans out, it could remove the need of installing expensive fiber-optic cable in areas like Africa and Southeast Asia.
Military and aeronautical researchers have been experimenting with tethered balloons to beam internet signals back to earth for some time now. What makes Google’s balloons different is the fact that they’ll be untethered and out of site. They’ll move around the world, powered by natural winds.

What are superpressure balloons?
Superpressure balloons are made out of tightly sealed plastic capable of containing highly pressurised lighter-than-air gases.
The aim is to keep the volume of the balloon relatively stable even if there are changes in temperature.
This allows them to stay aloft longer and be better at maintaining a specific altitude than balloons which stretch and contract.
In particular it avoids the problem of balloons descending at night when their gases cool.
The concept was first developed for the US Air Force in the 1950s using a stretched polyester film called Mylar.
The effort resulted in the Ghost (global horizontal sounding technique) programme which launched superpressure balloons from Christchurch, New Zealand to gather wind and temperature data over remote regions of the planet.
Over the following decade 88 balloons were launched, the longest staying aloft for 744 days.
More recently, Nasa has experimented with the technology and suggested superpressure balloons could one day be deployed into Mars's atmosphere.
Each balloon is 15m (49.2ft) in diameter - the length of a small plane - and filled with lifting gases. Electronic equipment hangs underneath including radio antennas, a flight computer, an altitude control system and solar panels to power the gear.
Google aims to fly the balloons in the stratosphere, 20km (12 miles) or more above the ground, which is about double the altitude used by commercial aircraft and above controlled airspace.
Google says each should stay aloft for about 100 days and provide connectivity to an area stretching 40km in diameter below as they travel in a west-to-east direction.
The firm says the concept could offer a way to connect the two-thirds of the world's population which does not have affordable net connections.

PRISM : NATIONAL SECURITY ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE PROGRAM

  • PRISM is a national security electronic surveillance program
  • PRISM  is operated by the United National Security Agency (NSA) since 2007 PRISM has allowed the government unprecedented access to your personal information for at least the last six years.
  • The existence of the program was leaked by NSA contractor Edward Snowden Microsoft.
  • Yahoo. Google. Facebook. PalTalk. AOL. Skype. YouTube. Apple are the associated companies.

PRISM is a clandestine national security electronic surveillance program operated by the United States National Security Agency (NSA) since 2007.
PRISM is a government codename for a data collection effort known officially as US-984XN
PRISM is a covert collaboration between the NSA, FBI, and nearly every tech company you rely on daily. PRISM has allowed the government unprecedented access to your personal information for at least the last six years.
The existence of the program was leaked by NSA contractor Edward Snowden and published by The Guardian and The Washington Post on June 6, 2013.
A document included in the leak indicated that PRISM was "the number one source of raw intelligence used for NSA analytic reports."

So what PRISM is all about ?
In the months and early years after 9/11, FBI agents began showing up at Microsoft Corp. more frequently than before, armed with court orders demanding information on customers.
Around the world, government spies and eavesdroppers were tracking the email and Internet addresses used by suspected terrorists. Often, those trails led to the world's largest software company and, at the time, largest email provider.
The agents wanted email archives, account information, practically everything, and quickly.
According to leaked documents, it went into effect in 2007, and has only gained momentum since. Its stated purpose is to monitor potentially valuable foreign communications that might pass through US servers, but it appears that in practice its scope was far greater.

Companies Associated?

Microsoft. Yahoo. Google. Facebook. PalTalk. AOL. Skype. YouTube. Apple. If you've interacted with any of those companies in the last six years, that information is vulnerable under PRISM.
Initial public statements
Corporate executives of several companies identified in the leaked documents told The Guardian that they had no knowledge of the PRISM program in particular and also denied making information available to the government on the scale alleged by news reports. Statements of several of the companies named in the leaked documents were reported :
·         Microsoft: "We provide customer data only when we receive a legally binding order or subpoena to do so, and never on a voluntary basis. In addition we only ever comply with orders for requests about specific accounts or identifiers. If the government has a broader voluntary national security program to gather customer data we don't participate in it."
·         Yahoo!: "Yahoo! takes users' privacy very seriously. We do not provide the government with direct access to our servers, systems, or network. "Of the hundreds of millions of users we serve, an infinitesimal percentage will ever be the subject of a government data collection directive."
·         Facebook: "We do not provide any government organization with direct access to Facebook servers. When Facebook is asked for data or information about specific individuals, we carefully scrutinize any such request for compliance with all applicable laws, and provide information only to the extent required by law."
·         Google: "Google cares deeply about the security of our users' data. We disclose user data to government in accordance with the law, and we review all such requests carefully. From time to time, people allege that we have created a government ‘back door' into our systems, but Google does not have a backdoor for the government to access private user data. "[A]ny suggestion that Google is disclosing information about our users' Internet activity on such a scale is completely false.”
·         Dropbox: "We've seen reports that Dropbox might be asked to participate in a government program called PRISM. We are not part of any such program and remain committed to protecting our users' privacy."

How PRISM works?

Americans who disapprove of the government reading their emails have more to worry about from a different and larger NSA effort that snatches data as it passes through the fiber optic cables that make up the Internet's backbone. That program, which has been known for years, copies Internet traffic as it enters and leaves the United States, then routes it to the NSA for analysis.
Deep in the oceans, hundreds of cables carry much of the world's phone and Internet traffic. Since at least the early 1970s, the NSA has been tapping foreign cables. It doesn't need permission. That's its job.
But Internet data doesn't care about borders. Send an email from Pakistan to Afghanistan and it might pass through a mail server in the United States, the same computer that handles messages to and from Americans. The NSA is prohibited from spying on Americans or anyone inside the United States. That's the FBI's job and it requires a warrant.
Despite that prohibition, shortly after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, President George W. Bush secretly authorized the NSA to plug into the fiber optic cables that enter and leave the United States, knowing it would give the government unprecedented, warrantless access to Americans' private conversations.
Tapping into those cables allows the NSA access to monitor emails, telephone calls, video chats, websites, bank transactions and more. It takes powerful computers to decrypt, store and analyze all this information, but the information is all there, zipping by at the speed of light.
When the NSA monitors phone records, it reportedly only collects the metadata therein. That includes to and from whom the calls were made, where the calls came from, and other generalized info. Importantly, as far as we know, the actual content of the calls was off-limits.
By contrast, PRISM apparently allows full access not just to the fact that an email or chat was sent, but also the contents of those emails and chats. According to the Washington Post's source, they can "literally watch you as you type." They could be doing it right now.

A little bit of history might be helpful for context. Back in 2007, mounting public pressure forced the Bush administration to abandon the warrantless surveillance program it had initiated in 2001. Well, abandon might be too strong a word. What the administration actually did was to find it a new home.

The Protect America Act of 2007 made it possible for targets to be electronically surveilled without a warrant if they were "reasonably believed" to be foreign. That's where that 51% comes in. It was followed by the 2008 FISA Amendments Act, which immunized companies from legal harm for handing information over to the government. And that's the one-two punch that gives PRISM full legal standing.

MAOISM IN INDIA

  • India's "greatest internal security challenge".
  • Prevailing in almost 23 states of India
  • The rebels say they are fighting for the rights of indigenous tribes
  • The Maoists' military leader is Koteshwar Rao, otherwise known as Kishenji

Six years ago, the Prime Minister of India had declared that Maoism was the single biggest internal security challenge ever faced by our country. On 6 April 2010, 76 CRPF men were ambushed and killed by Maoists in the forests of Dantewada, state of Chhattisgarh.
Several decades later it had become, in the words of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, India's "greatest internal security challenge".
Maoists are also known as "Naxalites" because of the violent left-wing uprising in 1967, which began in the West Bengal village of Naxalbari.
This spans the states of Jharkand, West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh and also reaches into Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka.
The Maoists and affiliated groups are active in more than a third of India's 600-odd districts, the authorities say.
And more than 6,000 people have died in the rebels' long fight for communist rule in these states.
The Maoists' military leader is Koteshwar Rao, otherwise known as Kishenji
The term Maoism comes from Mao Zedong of China who formulated a variant of the Marxist-Leninist communism in China. The main principle of Maoism is the armed revolt of the farmers against the ruling class. It is also known as the People’s War wherein masses of the lower classes resort to guerilla warfare against the ruling parties and the government.
The rebels say they are fighting for the rights of indigenous tribes people and the rural poor who they say have been neglected by governments for decades.
Maoists claim to represent local concerns over land ownership and equitable distribution of resources.
Ultimately they say they want to establish a "communist society" by overthrowing India's "semi-colonial, semi-feudal" form of rule through armed struggle.

In post independent India, the government brought thousands of acres of land under development. This acquisition of land left thousands of tribal communities homeless. According to Dr. Walter Fernandez an estimated 60 million people were displaced between 1947 and 2004. These tribal people did not get adequate compensation and were deprived of their livelihood since they depended on the forests for sustenance.
In 1967 in the Naxalbari village in West Bengal, tribals and peasants organized the first armed struggle against the government. Led by Charu Majumdar who was influenced by Maoist thought, the movement became known as the Naxalite movement.
Today, the Communist Party of India (Maoist) is the political party representing the principles of Maoism. Its aim is to overthrow the government of India. The Maoist movement has infested almost the whole country in the past 40 years. It is now present in 23 of the 28 states. Every year, the Maoists are killing more people in order to fulfill their aims.
The government of India has banned the CPI (Maoist) party by labeling it as a terrorist organization and is constantly exploring military options to put an end to Maoism. This is because the Maoist organization is being funded chiefly through extortion, looting, abductions and poppy cultivation.

BURJ KHALIFA : TALLEST BUIDLING IN THE WORLD

Burj Khalifa , known as Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration, is a skyscraper in Dubai , and is the tallest man made structure in the world, at 829.8 m (2,722 ft)
Construction began on 21 September 2004, with the exterior of the structure completed on 1 October 2009. The building officially opened on 4 January 2010,
At over 828 metres (2,716.5 feet) and more than 160 stories, Burj Khalifa holds the following records:
  • Tallest building in the world
  • Tallest free-standing structure in the world
  • Highest number of stories in the world
  • Highest occupied floor in the world
  • Highest outdoor observation deck in the world
  • Elevator with the longest travel distance in the world
  • Tallest service elevator in the world
  • Tallest of the Supertall

World's tallest building. A living wonder. Stunning work of art. Incomparable feat of engineering. Burj Khalifa is all that. In concept and execution, Burj Khalifa has no peer.
More than just the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa is an unprecedented example of international cooperation, symbolic beacon of progress, and an emblem of the new, dynamic and prosperous Middle East.

It is also tangible proof of Dubai's growing role in a changing world. In fewer than 30 years, this city has transformed itself from a regional centre to a global one. This success was not based on oil reserves, but on reserves of human talent, ingenuity and initiative. Burj Khalifa embodies that vision.

Mr Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman, Emaar Properties, said: "Burj Khalifa goes beyond its imposing physical specifications. In Burj Khalifa, we see the triumph of Dubai's vision of attaining the seemingly impossible and setting new benchmarks. It is a source of inspiration for every one of us in Emaar. The project is a declaration of the emirate's capabilities and of the resolve of its leaders and people to work hand in hand on truly awe-inspiring projects.
Not only is Burj Khalifa the world’s tallest building, it has also broken two other impressive records: tallest structure, previously held by the KVLY-TV mast in Blanchard, North Dakota, and tallest free-standing structure, previously held by Toronto’s CN Tower. The Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has established 3 criteria to determine what makes a tall building tall. Burj Khalifa wins by far in all three categories.

Height to architectural top

Height is measured from the level of the lowest, significant, open-air, pedestrian entrance to the architectural top of the building. This includes spires, but does not include antennae, signage, flagpoles or other functional-technical equipment. This measurement is the most widely used and is used to define the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat rankings of the Tallest Buildings in the World.

Highest occupied floor

Height is measured from the level of the lowest, significant, open-air, pedestrian entrance to the highest continually occupied floor within the building. Maintenance areas are not included.

Height to tip

Height is measured from the level of the lowest, significant, open-air, pedestrian entrance to the highest point of the building, irrespective of material or function of the highest element. This includes antennae, flagpoles, signage and other functional-technical equipment.

The design of Burj Khalifa is derived from patterning systems embodied in Islamic Architecture According to the structural engineer, Bill Baker of SOM, the building's design incorporates cultural and historical elements particular to the region. The Y-shaped plan is ideal for residential and hotel usage, with the wings allowing maximum outward views and inward natural light The design architect, Adrian Smith, has said the triple lobed footprint of the building was inspired by the flower Hymenocallis.

MATHERAN : THE SMALLEST HILL STATION IN INDIA

  • ·     *   Matheran was discovered by Hugh Poynthz Malet in May 1850
  • ·     *   Located in Maharastra
  • ·     *     Matheran means “forest on the forehead”
  • ·     *   It is an eco-sensitive region
  • ·     *  Only place in Asia where vehicles are not allowed
  • ·     *  Famous for its red sand
  • ·     *  There are around 38 designated look-out points

Matheran is a hill station and a municipal council in the raijad district in the Indian states of Maharastra. It is a hill station in kajrat tehsil  and is also the smallest hill station in India. It is located on the Western ghats range at an elevation of around 800 m (2,625 feet) above sea level. It is located around 90 km from Mumbai, and 120 km from Pune. Matheran's proximity to many metropolitan cities makes it a popular weekend getaway for urban residents. The name Matheran means "forest on the forehead" (of the mountains).
Matheran is an eco-sensitive region, declared by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India. It is one of the few places in the world where vehicles are not allowed, which makes the place different from others. Matheran takes you over a hundred years back in time when there were no vehicles.
Because of vehicles being banned in Matheran, the place is quite peaceful despite the thousands of visitors coming to visit throughout the year.
There are lots of lookout points that provide spectacular views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Matheran has a reasonably dense forest cover.
There are around 38 designated look-out points in Matheran, including the Panorama Point that provides a 360 degree view of the surrounding area and also the Neral town. From this point, the view of sunset and sunrise is breathtaking. The Louisa Point offers crystal clear view of the Prabal Fort. The other points are the One Tree Hill Point, Hart Point, Monkey Point, Porcupine Point, Rambagh Point, and more.
Matheran was discovered by Hugh Poyntz Malet in May 1850.
At Matheran you will be relax, Rested and Rejuvenating. Really this is the effect of Matheran atmosphere, which you will be experienced.. You will find deep forest and Red mud road at Matheran and for transportation you can walk, can hire Horse or Rickshaw pullers.

Today in the 21st Century where Car, bike and Automobile became your life partner, even after doctor’s suggestion you can not walk and breathe out of your Vehicle. We found that in the whole world, pollutions in the cities can not be controlled at any level. But the Matheran is calm! Calm!! Calm!!! Matheran is not just the city which left behind, but also the dissonance of traffic.

It’s damn sure, 100% one will not hear even one single horn any where in Matheran. Cars, Bikes and any Automobile are not allowed up here. All the vehicles have to be park at Dasturi Naka, which 3 kms outside the main street of Matheran and this is the uniqueness of Matheran city. For such, Matheran is the only place in Asia and one of among the few places in the world.

The forest ecosystem at Matheran is unique and remarkable in many respects - its dense and lofty arboreal growth, peculiar blending of evergreen and moist deciduous species and moreover a high percentage of endemism and almost undisturbed natural climatic climax formations.
